Behind the Design: Creating Our Wallpaper Collection with Munks & Me
Every collection starts with a spark, and this one started with a conversation I couldn't stop thinking about. When Munks & Me reached out about collaborating on a wallpaper collection, it felt like such a natural fit. Two small businesses, both obsessed with nature-inspired design, both making things for little ones with big imaginations. I said yes before I'd even finished reading the email.
Where the inspiration came from
I wanted this collection to feel like a natural extension of the Lion & The Pear aesthetic, creating wallpaper designs that could sit beautifully alongside our existing art prints.
Kris and I worked closely together to explore which designs really spoke to her and her wonderful customer base. We kept coming back to classic stripes, playful yet subtle conversational motifs and designs that felt timeless — something you could put up in your little one’s room and still love years down the line.
Colour palettes
With the colour palettes, we wanted to strike a balance between feeling fresh and current while still having that timeless quality. It was important to us that the collection felt inclusive, with something for everyone, without leaning too heavily towards traditional gender stereotypes.
We wanted colour to have a presence, but never overpower a space. A little bit of boldness, a little bit of playfulness, but ultimately designs that feel considered, versatile and easy to live with.
Bringing the designs to life
Each motif was carefully repeated, refined and tested to make sure the overall balance felt just right. For some designs, we also explored different scales, offering a couple of variations to suit different spaces and room sizes. We wanted the collection to feel as versatile as possible, whether you’re looking to make a bold statement or introduce something a little more subtle.
